Does anyone quench 1095 in a brine solution? I've not been able to get 1095 as I feel like it ought to get in oil and from what I've seen online it seems like people use oil and some use a brine solution. What works for you all?

You can quench 1095, W1, and W2 in brine. However, without a lot of experience it will likely crack. Parks #50 quenchant at room temperature is the preferred quench oil for those steels. Canola oil warmed to 120F will also work.

If you plan to use 1095 try to invest in Parks 50 oil, fast as the water but way less likely to crack as many blades.
Thin blades will harden also in warm runny oil, but if you are just starting out, you'll be happier with 1084 steel.
1095 is an hypereutectoid steel and its quenching behaviour would just be the last concern...it mainly requires tight temperature control to give good results.
