Joe: A lot of work went into that knife for a very reasonable price - nice package.

Joe Thats a nice looking knife , have you soaked that handle in some maple stain to bring out the color , I can't tell from this photo if its done or not. I wish my knife from you was in maple , but we got a deal down the road for my second knife in Desert Ironwood on 52100 steel, but with this same blade design. Any of your sheaths are grand, we'll figure that out later. If these people really new what a good knife these are ,this would have been gone long time ago.

I agree with my friends above: Very good knife to use/Very friendly & humble knifemaker/really great sheath work/the price is a DEAL.
I have 2 of Joe's knives. If this one does not sell soon, i'm going to have 3.

Thanks Joe!! I had a chance to do some forging today, and got a couple 52100 hunters forged out, got a couple more to do tomorow, and should have the blades ht'd and finished out in a couple weeks and will let you pick one you like for your handle.

I did not stain the handle. just hand-sanded down to 600 grit and then finished with tru-oil.

Joe (one or both), can the handle still be dyed at this point ? i.e. on the knife ? &, after Tru-oil ?

I dont know Roland. this is the first I've worked with birdseye. I saw it at the lumber yard, and I have a really nice 6.5 swede rifle stocked in birdeye and had to give it a try. I could finish a scrap piece exactly the way I did the handle and see what happens. I think I have a couple colored wood finishes from home depot that I can try.

Roland, I tried staining a scrap piece, and the stains I have wont penetrate the tru-oil finish I put on. So, if you really want the knife and want the handle stained, I'd have to sand it down and re-finish it. Which I'd be happy to do if you want.

Roland, Got the handle sanded back down and stained, then retreated with tru-oil. looks a couple shades darker, and the eyes stand out a bit better
