I have spent most of the morning trying to find an answer to this question but I can't find any info on it anywhere. Sorry if this is a stupid question but I really want to know that answer.
I have some blades made from 1095 that I would like to get a hamon line on. I know all about the edge quench method and the clay method. What I want to know is this. Can I heat just the area to be hardened and quench the whole blade to get a hamon line? To me it makes sence that this would work but I have never seen or heard of anybody doing this yet. I could use the clay method but I really don't want to and the shape of this blade cant really be edge quenched.
Thanks for your time and sorry again if this is a stupid question.
