Here is one of my hidden tang neckers in thin stock 1095 for a very lightweight light use utility neck knife that is light enough to not be a pain in the neck!!

I have done about everything that I can think of to get the lightest weight for a good sized and handy utility knife. 3/32" 1095, light wood choices, aluminum short guard, ect......

this is designed not to be a "backup weapon" or "survival knife", but a nice lightweight, easy to carry light duty utility knife.

OAL- 6 5/8"

blade- 2 7/8" long, .075" thick at the spine, .035" measured 1/4" behind the edge, and .014" thick at the shoulder of the edge. 11/16" wide

steel- 1095 high carbon, differentially hardened. heat treat includes a double normalize, double anneal, triple edge quench { most of the blades width on these narrow blades} and triple temper for a really nice performing blade that takes and holds a great edge and yet is easy to resharpen!

grind- a full flat grind, sharpened on a Smiths 325 diamond hone with micro bevels, to an agressive razor edge

finish- 400 grit finish on the bevels under scotchbrite belt finish

handle- Zebrawood scales with brass pin. handle is finished with 200 grit with the lines running across the handle so it looks good yet isn't slick

sheath- .060 thick kydex with small black rivets. stripped paracord, easily adjustable, and I can cut it for my new safety feature if you like.

weight - 2.05 ounces for the total package of knife, sheath and cord. That's about the weight of a Zippo lighter!!!!!! for the WHOLE PACKAGE!!

I did a few videos on youtube on my 2 new lines of neckers:

and a destructive test of the Carter style necker https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ONC3lOkoC9c

Nice pick up Koonetay Joe...I have one of these and you won't believe how comfortable the handle is for the weight. I have smaller hands, but I can get a full grip on it no problem, and bc it's a solid block of wood it's got some nice thickness to it that makes it comfortable for heavy cutting.

Picked this up yesterday. Camber, i agree with everything you say and will add that Joe is a genius with steel and both he and his knives have absolute integrity.
Amazingly light weight, perfectly balanced sharp knife. I wore it for about 6 hours yesterday and could not even feel it being there. And, as with all of Joe's knife designs, it feels 'just right' in hand.
Joe, your quick release safety system for the paracord is great and should become the standard for all sheaths that hang from you neck.
Could i be more pleased ? No ! I love this knife.
Thank you Genius Joe Calton.
