1095 or a SS (S30V) for a fixed camping knife

for camping knife go for softer steel its easy to sharpen and you not gonna break it in half , s30 will rust just like 1095 so no difference here . why spend more ? go for ESEE they making awesome knifes .:thumbup:

Well, that depends upon the finish of the metal. I have two s30v blades that don't show any rust, yet I admit I've never used any type of protectant on them. Properly h/t S30V should hold an edge longer than 1095, but it's a lot more $.
 
Have you checked out what Swamp Rat has to offer? I am pretty caught up in love with the Ratmandu. Its reasonably priced, there is even a few used ones for sale in the exchange forum under the busse/swamp rat/ scrap yard thread for around 130 bucks. I've got a video up under the swamp rat manufacturers thread if you wana check out the blade. Esee makes great stuff too, im just trying to show ya different options. good luck man!
