low tech works fine for me too

i used canola oil and accidently dropped the blade into it lucky it didnt warp or get ruined,

i was using too small of a pan to begin with and getting the whole thing in was my biggest concern,

Im pretty sure the most important thing is being consistant in your method however it may be,

and sam i always see a ton of your work produced on iforgeiron,

I like that massive shop how did you end up there?

Sam, I use my oven for tempering, it works great! (cheaper than the propane it would take to maintain consistent temps in a forge) I preheat it with a pizza stone between the element and the rack the blade is going on, I put a cookie sheet on the bottom rack with an inverted cake pan on it, the blade goes edge up in a wire rack on the cake pan, a cookie sheet goes on the top rack for infrared sheilding
