I am a newbie,s newbie-my first post,working on my first blade. I think I know the answer but there is always hope.Can I quench 1095 steel in anything other than oil? Thanks, bullet

If you do Brine quench, Make sure your edge is ATLEAST 1/16" thick. Awful lot of work to go bad in quench when a proper quench oil can be bought for $20.00 for a gallon, at McMaster Carr, for Houghten 11 second quench oil, and you can lower your edge thicknes to a mm... (.040")
