im trying to differentially treat a large bowie blade and i only have the resources to temper over a campfire. (by the way a double quench at red hot left an interesting looking hammon)
i have already done a full temper in the oven at around 400 for a couple hours.
its a pretty big blade and a torch just wasnt cutting it.
i have heard to get the edge a nice colden color and get the back of the blade a dark blue.
I just wanted to check and make sure this would be correct so i wouldnt have to start over with the heat treat.
thanks in advance for any help.
