1095 thick-edge clay quench

Hi All,

Sorry for the barrage of threads tonight but I have lots of questions that don't relate

This might be self evident to most but I thought It worth an ask - With 1095 how thick can you leave the edge if you're clay coating it?

Being shallow hardening it made me wonder what the max thickness is. I prefer to heat treat after grinding wherever possible to prevent warps but obviously this isn't an option when clay coating.

So how thick can i leave it and still get nice results?

You want the edge around .040"- .050" thick for best results. Grind thinner after heat treat.
