1095, What happened?

Did you grind the blade before you heat treated the steel. If so that maybe why. I heat treat the steel at 1500 and quench in oil at 125 degree. Then temper at 350 for 2 hours then air cool the steel down slow. If you will do this it will come out great. -------Hope this will help you in your time of need. :thumbup:

Yes, that is correct. And I do use Brownells Tough Quench (fast quench).

But at 0.040"-0.050" (near the edge)....1.5-2.o seconds is all mine needs to go black at the very edge. And yes, I work with thinner stock than most.
