I realize the carbon content is too low for a blade, but does the V make up for any of the lack of carbon? The 10v38 is free and i have alot of it. Any place in the knife world for this steel i'm not thinking of?

Vanadium is a grain refiner and a carbide former. It eats carbon, leaving less available for martensite.

There are elements that can fill for carbon, but I'm pretty sure V ain't one of them.

Is this a spring steel?

Perhaps Mete could chime in....

This steel is worn out cutter blades off a hay mower and anything free never works out for me.Thanks for saving me some time and aggravation.
