110 blade movement

What's the best and least expensive way to tighten up a 110's pivot pin to eliminate side to side movement. Without having to send it back to Buck?

Send it back. I've seen a post to tighten it in a padded vice recently and a good while ago. the time a good while ago, most of the people who IMHO have shown themselves to be very knowledgable folks were hesitant to take that approach. I'm not saying it doesnt work but I wouldnt try it on mine(never have had that problem to have to consider doing it:thumbup:)

I have fixed a few 110's using the padded vise method,BUT,I have some knifemakers input also,and you need to realize the pivot will stick out of the bolsters after you do this,and that will need to be ground and polished .I don't reccommend it ,but i have done it with great success,as others stated,better off sending it in for a proper refurbishing.
 
yes send it in if you do any thing your self and
if you squease to hard it wont open very well
it will show and not be under warranty
for postage why mess with it?
only about 2 weeks so why no?
 
:cool:...I've tightened a few but found it was better to just remove the pivot pin and re-rivet 'em...Unless ya got some tools and stuff I'd send it to Buck...:thumbup:
 
It would be best to send it back, make no mistake about it, Buck has the BEST customer service in the knife business.

But if you really just want a quick fix for a beater, I have laid one on a piece of soft pine and whacked the bolster with a "RUBBER" mallet. Then turned it over and done the other side.
 
I used a vise on mine, piece of leather for padding. Quick fix on a user knife because the slight play was annoying. Couldn't be bothered with sending the knife to the States from where I am.
