O.K. I took my new Buck BPS 110 with CMP154 steel to the deer lease

to test it out.

I first used it to skin and field dress an eight piont buck. Then cut it
up and put it in the ice chest. Then I used it to ice pick some 1 gal milk jugs
that we froze water in to ice down our game.I know they make ice picks for that. But I have always uesd my hunting knife for chopping ice.

Then I shot a doe and field dressed her and used the 110 to cut..chop
some ceder twigs of a ceder stick to put throught the does hind legs
to hang her up in a tree.

Then I shot a gobbler turkey and cut him up and into bite size
chunks when I chicken fryied him.Good stuff.

This CPM stuff is some good steel for what I used it for .It is still
way sharp and ready for more.

So if anyone is thing about getting one ,I would say go for it.
You will be glad you did.

Congrats, and thanks for the info!

Sounds like you had a great time.

Jim,I know pictures, sorry to bussy shooting game.I will try to get more
pic's when I go back Christmas.

BTW Tom I shot a Gray Fox also and the boys cut his tail off.But I did
not use my Buck ,BPS 110 ,with CPM154 to do it so I left that out.

Here is the pic of the eight point.

Congratulations Hawkeye! I used my BPS 110 to skin and cut up a doe yesterday and it seems as sharp now as it was before.

Hi Gentlemen, I got in last evening from the hunting camp, which is just a few miles Sourh of where Hawkeye hunts. I am glad to say that he didn't shoot up all the game.

I got this 9pt. Dad got a 9pt similar, and son in laws dad got a 9 that was slightly larger than mine. Son in law got a 10 that was a little smaller rack than the 9's.

Like Jeff told me in an email, the deer have larger horns this year. Probably because that area got 30 inches of rain this past year, where the average is around 15.

Oh yeah,,,the rack had a 16 inch inside and a 19 inch outside spread. Some of the best we have seen in this area in a few years.

I didn't get a bird, but son in law got 4. But there are plenty still running loose. Good Crop this year. There were 25 to 30 birds in this bunch but they wouldn't stand still for a group photo.

Now for my knife report.

I field dressed the 9pt with the BP CPM154 and was a bit dissapointed. It was fresh out of the box with a factory edge and didn't slice through the skin as smoothly as I expected it to.

So I got a factory fresh AG S30V out of the truck and did some comparison cuts and the S30V was definitely sharper.

So all this told me was that I got a 154 that didn't get a full factory sharpening probably. But then back in the kitchen, the 154 did a great job during final processing.

Don't get me wrong here. The CPM154 was seriously sharp. It just wasn't as sharp as the S30V or as sharp as some of the edges I have put on my old two dot.

So for the next run to the deer camp, I will work on it and the AG both.

Now to shift gears a little from the 110's.

Son in law was helping to trim out the 9pt and was using his dull 420hc 110. I handed him a 121 and he loved it. So the more he went on about it, I went to the truck and it took all the will power I had, but I brought him an 805SS fixed blade that has the S30V and only half an inch shorter than the 121.

Well, that was a screw up. of course the 805SS totally blows away the 121 in performance so now the son in law has himself a new knife.

I say that was a screw up in jest. I had already planned on giving him the 805 and an AG110. I still have a new one of each that he will get for Christmas. He is a good kid.

I used the 805 some also and it does great. I still wish it had a 5.5 inch blade like the 121.

So that is a digest of some of my knife usage. Only other knife happening was stopping at Cabellas outside of Austin, on the way home and finding an AG110 in their bargain cave marked down $15. The only thing I could find wrong with it was that it is dull. Well,,,along with some stupid scratch that some Cabellas idiot did on the blade coating just so it couldn't be brought back as a new one. I went ahead and got it and no doubt it will sharpen up nicely.

Sorry for the length of this...I will quit babbling...

Sorry Bud,,,both daughters have been taken....whew and thank goodness. :D:D

We probably have more deer than the area can support. But the good rain we have been getting there (Junction, Texas) has helped the horn development a lot this year. Great acorn crop and brouse for the deer and turkey. I took the new camera to the stand with me every day. That 70-300mm zoom is fantastic. I promise not to bore you all with all those pics unless they really are outstanding.

Hawkeye

Sorry I wasn't too clear on the new AG. It was $15 off the regular price.
Which was ok, because I also had $26 worth of points saved up.

But then there was this sale on all the grinders, and this pair of 20x50 field glasses, couple a boxes of shells,,,,, Don't stop at Cabellas guys...

The 121 is waiting its turn here on the desk for sharpening. But that 805 is still so sharp it may end up finishing up the season without hitting the hones. Just to see how far I can push it befoe it quits performing for me.
I'll crow more about it later.

I just hope Mr Chuck and CJ forgive me for using a collectable signed LE knife. Its a winner among the users. It did get preferental treatment in the truck. And that is saying a lot if you could see the inside of my truck :D

I would bet they prefer it that way! My pops used his 803 signature series this year, it worked fantastic! (IMHO) S30V is hard to beat! The mirror finish?? or blade grinds?? almost seem to make them cut that much better too!

Hey Jeff...
Cool report.

How has the Ti coating on the blade held up for you?
Mine is oakie doke, but I am certain your's has seen some sirus cutting.

Thanks!
