110 Drop Point?

I'm still somewhat of a Buck collector newbie, so please bear with me and my questions -

Has there ever been a Buck 110 made with a drop-point blade?
If so, what is the model number, how many were made, etc.

If not, does anyone know if there's a possibility of a future 110 with that blade style?
OR
Are there any other Buck knives that would come close in size, style and function?

Thank you,
Mike

I'm sure that there are Buck "historians" that will be along shortly that can give you an answer to your question. Right now, I don't think that there are any 110 with a drop point blade produced even from the custom shop.

The Duke 500 is discontinued but has a drop point type blade and Buck is offering a special on one of them on their web sites "web specials" page. It's handled in smooth buffalo horn and is really a great deal. The 500 is smaller than the 110, but it's the same size as a 112. A lot of people prefer the smaller size and it's still a pretty large kinife.

S30V too.

Thanks to babakanoosh and Flatlander I am waiting today for my first custom shop 110 to arrive.I see their sweet Bucks posted all the time and I HAD to have me one!Mine has the S30V blade,Asian water buff.horn scales, and nickel bolsters.I must say,the Buck people are a pleasure to do business with, great customer service!! I saw the U.P.S.truck in town a half hour ago, won't be long now.

Flatlander1963 -
That is a gorgeous 110 (in S30V too)!
Do you know what year(s) those were made and how many?

Are there any other limited edition 110s that have been produced with a drop-point blade???

Thanks,
Mike

334dave,

Were the 110s with the drop-point blades and the titanium handles a one-off or a true production item???

I'm thinking one-off after seeing that serrated blade...

Thanks,
Mike

Mike,

I believe most of what Dave is showing you is most likely the drop point from a Bucklite (forget model number) but the blade is the same size as the 110. Notice the nail groove on some. This is not on the BCCI knife. I don't think Buck made any other DPs except this BCCI knife. But, I am most likely wrong. A linerlock 110 with a DP keeps popping in my mind. Btw, Dave likes to create unique knives from Buck bits and pieces. Right Dave:D:thumbup:

I believe that stag 110 limited edition I showed you was the only production 110 drop points. 1 of 200. It was a BCCI knife. They did 200 in the 112 for the club too.

In addition to the 200 I believe a few of those S30V drop points have found they way out to collectors and can be seen in other frames and scale. Very rare this however.

The BCCI is very hard to get because those with don't let them go often. The one I showed I actually traded to another forum member for a Stag/BG42 in a clip point. But I still have one of the BCCI's.

Be sure to show us pics Grim. And I'm glad to have caused you to get a CS110. It probably won't be your last.:D

Flatlander1963 - thank you for the info/background/detail on the BCCI knife!
Bummer there were only 200 made...

While I REALLY like the standard 110 clip point blade, maybe there's enough interest to make another run with a drop point blade on the 110 frame?

Could the Custom Shop make one of their CS110s with a drop point blade?
(Don't think that's listed as an option though...)

Thanks,
Mike

I haven't ever heard of the Custom Shop doing this. I'm sure they have a warranty parts inventory on the DP but I'm guessing they won't even talk about it.

Now, at some point maybe Joe gets the DP brought back for another BCCI out of popular demand. If so, some will show up on the Bay.

ok i will elaborate some
click the pick for max enjoyment

two verations of the liner lock both rare
buck lost money on every one they sold
a few frames were used later for some one offs,

standard issue club only 110 & 112

the above are club knives
of note the one with out FG from what i understand me and
one other sent back club knives with cracked oe bad stag
the blades seem to have been put on CS frames with
out the FG and sent back only two i know of

the top drop point is exermental ( 3 known DP samples and 3 clip)
and was used to show size and spaceing to
probous who invented the 184 bn
it was made by leroy
the other with holes ...i know of 10 examples
some done by leroy some done by buck
the bottom DP was done much later ...same story

alaska state 25 year drop point with the 50 year clip

these two explained in 2 you have not seen thread

Flatlander1963-Mike,

I believe most of what Dave is showing you is most likely the drop point from a Bucklite (forget model number) 426 is the number
but the blade is the same size as the 110. Notice the nail groove on some. This is not on the BCCI knife. I don't think Buck made any other DPs except this BCCI knife.
yes the alaska issue and a few others here and theere But, I am most likely wrong.
A linerlock 110 with a DP keeps popping in my mind. shown
Btw, Dave likes to create unique knives from Buck bits and pieces.
Right Dave I am not a knife smith!
i can do a few things but nothing like what others here can at all

The BCCI is very hard to get because those with don't let them go often. The one I showed I actually traded to another forum member for a Stag/BG42 in a clip point. But I still have one of the BCCI's.

me too!
leroy can put the new 486 blade in a 110 for you
send him any year 110 and a 486
and you can get a "410" back ...
once you pay him that is!
contact him at
http://www.triple-r-knives.com/
tell him dave is being naughty again..

I don't think I've seen a 486 yet, but the 426 makes a nice transplant... :)

Best to transplant the rockerbar and torsion spring, too... ;)

These drop point 110 and 112 were done in Sambar Stag and S30V for the Buck Collector Club a few years back, by Buck.

Well I didn't mean it literally Dave.
yes i knew that my friend...!
wanted to be sure the newbies knew also;)
i spend a lot of effort tracking down thoes odd ones..
inspired my bro to do so also with his 112's

wow pack that is a Nice group of 110's!

trax the 486 is a nice handling knife
it is like others though...
does not do it for every one that handles it..
but it makes as nice a transplant as the 426 did!!!
the built in thumb stud is quite handy also!
you should do one:thumbup:;)
