does anyone have experience with the 110 with the new EcoLite handles? what's that stuff like?

Ok my ecolite 112 has devolped something. I have kept it clean and oiled and never really got it dirty. Now the blade does not snap fully shut when closing I have to nudge it a little to get it to go the last 1/2 inch or so. It just stops with the point of the blade well sticking out. I have cleaned and oiled it and don't hear or feel any grit in the joint. Any suggestions?

Are you carrying it in your pocket? I have one of the new yellow handled 301's that started doing the same thing and I found a big chunk of pocket lint in the blade recess right up against the pivot point. It was keeping the blade from closing all the way.

Just a thought.

Dig around in the area Plumber recommends with a toothpick and shoot some WD-40 in there . Then work it and see what happens . DM

Thats gotta be it. I have seen big hunks of lint in mine, more than other 110's that I carry. I have blown it out before it gets in the works apparently. I wonder if those cut out liners have something to do with it by acting like a channel?

Interesting, I didn't even know these existed! The thing I've always disliked about the 110's is the weight, but at a little over half the weight of a 110, I might have to give this one a try.

Mark,
You may also want to look at the Buck Lite Max. Gets you a thumb stud and pocket clip if you like those options.

Yeah I checked for lint there (none Present) and really hit it with WD 40. Only a slight improvment; the tip still stays out side the handle and does not snap shut. Have the buck lite as well and the snap and lockup is very good. hmmmm.

Grab me by the thumbs and haul me up the yardarm but I use HOT water out of a good hard flow faucet to blast out lint and any other debris. THEN some WD40, wipe off and out with Q-tip then a hair dryer till its almost too hot to hold. Drop of teflon oil and go. If that doesn't fix those problems then you got problems. If my tank is pumped up I will air blast it also. If scale is horn, antler or oh my gosh Ivory, I am more careful with water and temp.

300/ch

Does half the weight mean half the strength?

Can you stick a pit bull and not have this thing buckle?

Search reveals nothing on pit bull testing of EcoLites.

I've seen those online at Knifecenter, they look pretty interesting. The 110 is my favorite locking folder of all time, ahh nostalga.Might have to get a 112 too, while I'm at it.

As soon as Buck makes 'em in black , I'll buy 20 of them. The colors turn me off , but the concept and material (paperstone) is great

Their paperstone cutlery set comes in "black obsidian" as the standard color.
