110 LT Drop Point

I don't know from what "batch" this may be but the serial number is 98.The rocker sets conspicuously high above the handle from the back of the blade to the rocker rivet. It almost feels as though the rocker is not seated properly into the notch of the blade. The rocker is clean and so is the notch of the blade,so I have to assume it's the manufacturers tolerances that is causing this.

I think I made the point in another LT thread...

The lock bar is shared with the 110. Since I assume intended to be a little bigger and ground flush with the frame on the 110, I'm not surprised that they're a little proud of the handles on the LT.

Buck added the grove on these that would represent the bolster/scale on a brass framed knife. Since they made this grove wrap over the spine, they can't grind the lock bar flush with the handle without getting into that groove like they could on the Buck-Lites.

Perhaps they'll adjust the mold at some point so they can clean these up. I think it's unlikely though as that would add another step in the manufacturing process which would be passed along to us. I would be surprised if we're not stuck with this. As mentioned though, it's not a functional issue and form follows function; right?

yes Sir...but the other lts smoke jumper and standard arent affected by this. so it leads back to tolerance issue with this batch or some of this batch.

also yes Sir.....it isn't a function issue.....just a visual one and a bit awkward when using and the lockbar up so high up.

I have to disagree with you MT_Polk.When the blade is closed the rocker bar sets flush with handle both in front and behind the rocker rivet. When the blade is deployed the rocker sets high above the handle in front of the rocker rivet but sets below the handle behind the rocker rivet.Adjusting the mold,as you recommended would alter all of the positions of the rocker both while the blade is close and when it's deployed. That is not a proper solution. The rocker needs to set evenly while the blade is deployed, just as it does when the blade is closed.

I was suggesting they adjust the mold to remove the decorative groove from the spine so it could be ground flush (especially for the hump at the blade end of the lock bar).

Yeah I would have to agree with this because its not an issue with my clip point LT, and as you said the lockbar is perfectly flush when the knife is closed. But when open, the lockbar is proud on the front end by the blade and below the frame on the back end by the lock.

Both my LTs are this way. I emailed Buck, and was told they done this way to keep from melting the handle when grinding.
