You guys might find this interesting.

My wife made me go shopping tody. While at the shopping centre (you all them malls).

I had look at a knife shop, an Aussie retail chain
For 110 brass bolsters 420HC blade, price $169 AUs = Approx $123 US.
A 112FG $149 AUS.

With the the exception of 1 deler who is a bldeforum member. For production knives here if retail not uncommon for a 100% or more mark up on US prices.
Thought you might find this initeresting.

Cheers
Mitch

Yeah?!?!? You how much we for Vegemite here in the US???

Sirusly, do you have as steep mark ups on other US goods as well?

I remember how everyone complained that prices in Hawai'i for retail items was so expensive. Then the big box stores moved in.

I think our long neck pal was referring to a "Vegemite sandwich". These are words from a long forgotten down under band "Men at Work".

MR.Goose,

The recipe is one can of Vegemite and one can of Spam, fried with an egg on top. "Its so easy a cave man could do it" and you can give it to Mikey, He'll eat anything; Hay Mikey!!!!:D :p Oh ya, I've heard that Vegemite is tasty served with chickentrax also.

the fact that your wife made you do anything disturbs me...

But, then again, I guess that is why I have two ex EDCs, each with 12 years, and just dumped my next-ex last week after three years...so maybe I should take notes. No. I doan ting so Lucy!!!

Goose- Sleep deprevation might be the answer our youngest is only 3 weeks old.
It's alright though I stopped at the hardware shop on the way home.:D

Knives are more expensive here due to the fact most retailers use 1 to 2 importers & don't import themselves, so by the time every 1 gets their cut. Also a few years back a goods & services tax was introduced so it did make things dearer:grumpy: :grumpy:

Vegemite is beautiful great on sandwiches & toast don't know what you are missing:p
You know that vegemite is actually owned by an American company.
Cheers

Hey Mitch...
Yeah, I miss my latest (but I'll never tell)...we'd have a blast at Home Depot..truthfully.
That is cool...three weeks old. My youngest is 17 and it was like yesterday she was 3 weeks old. If she goes on a date I make certain the dude's name isn't "Chicken"-something. If so, Five-O Mike goes along just to be certain she doesn't come back as a machined Ti Skeletonized 112 drop point FG when she left the hele as a eskimo 110 :)
(Nobody can dispute that the Cabela Jersey isn't the Schltz off the shelf!!!! Can they?)

The middleman stuff sounds like Japan. Everyone gets a big cut and it's proportional. Prices are artifically high and the mfg see's only his relative cut.
Direct is the way to go.

Your tourism board is running a cool series of commercials here on TV. I've always wanted to go to Australia. When my dad was in Subic, the Ausrtalian Navy would come in and they'd have soccer (football games) against the US Navy/Marines...guess who would always win? The squids with the Daffy Duck hats. BUT, (as Darryl would say), those f'n Kiwi's can kick anyone's ass.

Also, in Olongapo, I had a paperback from Playboy. It was titled "Girls of Australia"...you should see the gal in the current commercial...HOT!!! Nice to know you keep the gene pool gorgous you bunch of criminals of The Queen!!! Hat's off to ya!!!

Vegemite owned by an American company???? Next thing you'll be telling me that Buck makes knives in China!!!! (couldn't resist).

Less You Seek, The More You Find,
Goose.

Mitch,
I have two girls and my baby will turn 31 this year. I can't believe it. It seems like just a couple of days ago she was eight and I was taking her picture because she lost her two front teeth. Enjoy the sleep deprivation while it lasts. The house will get very uncomfortably quiet once they leave the nest.

Oh yeah, don't worry about Goose. I'll tell him all about your home town.
Mike

Hey Michael...
When were you in Po?
I was there 68-70.
Do you remember the Jungle Land side of Magsaysay?
I walked thru there from time to time. The SP OD thought I was nuts.
Just like the opening from "An Officer and A Gentleman:.
Holy Schlitz!!! You are THE Gentlemen my Chief dad warned me about!!!
L&R Brother JG (or were you a Cmdr when you got out?)...
Nontheless,
Brother Goose.
