Help 110 experts. Did Buck ever make a 110 with a lanyard hole in the bolster?

No, there have been some after market folks that did them, and there was I believe some playing around at Buck with prototypes, but they never sold 110's with it.

I asked them a few years ago about one, and the answer I got was that it runs a high risk of messing up the inner workings of the knife.

There's one on the Bay. Looks like the tip of the blade could cut the lanyard.

camvdcs, I saw that listing earlier today and wondered about the lanyard hole and the radiused bolsters. The blade appears to be early '70's,... ....
I suspect the radius work and lanyard hole were someones mod. Can't imagine needing a lanyard on a 110?

It's not factory, and that knife has had the bejeeeeesus buffed out of it.

The bolsters should be a lot more squared off than they are.

The "Buck USA" is also on the wrong side of the blade????????

Here's what they look like inside:

Not much room to drill a hole, and it would be a small one. I always wondered if you could replace one of the pins in the rear bolster with an oversized hollow one, and create a hole that way? If I ever get the right tools, I might try it some day.

well they ruined a good knife ... well it is still a user i guess...
that lanyard hole jest drills the value dont ya know..

Blue Sky, Thanks for the photo of the 110 guts......hadn't seen the innards before. So what do you all think is up with the blade being stamped on the right side? Just a fluke?

The "right side" stamp is a Third Version variation seven. Not too terribly uncommon.

They did make prototypes with the hole but they had to change the design of the knife to make room for the hole. They did however sell 110s with bale rings in Europe. How many is a question. FYI.

camvdcs,
FYI

We are not allowed to post links to live auctions in the forum. You must not have known that rule. I don't want you to get a nasty note from the forum police....you may want to remove the link.

Ok, I just got home from work and my habit is to logon to Bladeforums. I see your post jb4570. Yeah, I didn't know there was a rule about that. I'm just figured out how to remove it by using the Edit option. Now it is gone. Sorry.:o

No apology needed here. When I got the Buck bug and was new posting here; I dropped many auction links and so did everyone else. Then the forum police busted us:rolleyes::eek:. I had no idea it was against the rules. At first I was upset because all of us were doing it and felt like I was a kid getting my hand slapped. I just don't want anyone else to get that nasty warning letter.

Thanks jb4570 for the kind alert. I won't do that again. I'm just a novice at this forum stuff. I was a devoted Spydernut but a couple of months ago I held my old 70ish Buck 110 that my dad gave me and some light bulb went on. I've been following and researching the 110's since. But I'm still a Spydernut, just that now I also a Bucknut.;)

yes my friend it is not uncommon to have two afflictions at the same time...
folks are learning the attraction of the classic knives again!
and hay..
it wont get you in the same trouble as two ladies at the same time!!;)
