110 Slim Black Micarta D2 Steel

yep. looks way better removed. how long it take ya Sir and howd ya do it..... Tecate Tecate

That looks really nice. Please share your removal method!

Well...you get yourself a gallon of Hydrochloric acid, a 12 oz bottle of Frank's RedHot sauce and a couple of lemons for the juice. You set those aside and then in a tall glass pour 7 Up and Seagram's Seven with ice to the rim. Then you click your mouse on the Photoshop application and within 5 minutes all of the etching is gone.;):p:rolleyes:

I do have several knives that are set aside for a spa treatment and I am hoping I can include this one to have the etching removed. I think I recall someone else in this forum mentioning having the etching removed by Buck via spa treatment. It's worth a shot. If not, I will have to remove it myself or add neon to the billboard.

Alright. No Photoshop this time.

Taped the knife off and applied it to a 6" buffer/polisher with medium/coarse wheel and some medium/coarse compound. With 15-20 minutes work I was able to remove most of the etching. You can see in the picture that I have a little left to go in the upper/left that contained the top of the "D2|S". I should be able to remove the rest tomorrow with some better lighting.

Now the catch is that the etching still exists, but it is no longer dark in color like the Buck USA above. If you angle the knife back and forth you can still see the etching, but it is all metallic now, the letters almost look mirror polished and kind of looks cool. I'll see if I can get some pictures with the right angles tomorrow in better outdoor lighting.

The only knives I tolerate with that much “stuff” on the blade are commemorative, and they are display pieces.

most dislike the laser etching due to it rubbing away so easily and quickly when using said knife.........so using it shouldnt take too long to make it gone..........

I thought a sisal buff with black rogue would take it off. A scotch brite pad would do it too. I would have to remove the pocket clip as well. Just my taste.

If anyone was interested in this slim pro black micarta D2 knife (billboard included for no additional charge:D), today is a good time to go to that smoky place in mountains and take a look.;)

I purchased this knife when it came out and it has remained in my EDC rotation since.

Thank you Tecate for the heads up.
My order is in.
