Can someone please post a pic of two 110 knives next to each other...one knife with "squared-off" bolsters and the other "rounded"?

I don't have a round, and I can't make hide nor hair out of it in the book pics. Besides, some of you have some handy dandy picture taking boxes that rock.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Warmest Regards,
Goose.

Goose, I hope that you will be able to see the difference in this photo...if not maybe someone will come along with a better one. Preston

That will do it Mr. P.!!!
When I saw that pic, I did the "Ahh, Grasshoppah"...that's the diff with the 5th version I just got comapred to my other units (all newer).

Now that I see it in the pic, it bugs me that I asked such a stupid question when I see it like a zit on the nose.

Now I need a 110 with brass spacer (no need to post a pic on that LOL).

Thank you Preston, as always...

Goose,
Whether you realize it or not, you have just committed yourself to the 110 collection saga. You must now attempt to acquire all versions of the 110 ever made, including variations like the 560 and the 186. Welcome to the club and happy hunting. :D :D

Thanks Mike..."committed" is right LOL.
Yep. I am jones'n (where does that word come from?) for a 186 and a black 560. Then a full set of 560's...

It all started when I was looking at my 110 HD 95th Anniv and my Wienersmell Damascus locker, and was wondering "what other 110 knives are out there with designs on the blade? Did Buck ever make a 110 in Damascus?". So innocent and naive.
Did a Google search, and here I am. "You had me at 'hello'"...

So I started to aquire the 110's with blade art for Anniv, Commerative, Barmitzvahs.

Then it turns into number "x of xxx" series.
Last night, I'm thinking, I'd want a 110 for each year's tang stamp.
Today, it's a quest for a small piece of brass sandwiched between two bolsters.

Just to clarify, I don't have a lot like you committed nuts, less than two dozen...what concerns me is that I see no light at the end of the tunnel.
And, if I did see a light, I would wonder if it was a reflection from the bolster of a NS DM Sambar and run right into the f'n train!!!!

This is wierd, even by my standards.

Goose.

I am relatively new to collecting Buck knives. I aquired a few over the years OK maybe more than a few. A friend of mine introduced me to an old school 110 with the squared bolsters. Old school 110's rock! I think I need to go to some type of BUCK 110 recovery meetings. I just can't get enough of those 4 dots, 3 dots, 2 dots, no dots and brass spacers. Maybe Buck could offer up a comemorative edition of this old school design!

MUST HAVE MORE 110's AND 560's

Warning, thread stealer. It's my thread and I'll steal if I want too...

Well...a good mail day (for the most part).
Got a Hilo :) , Brass Ass 110 with an old skool sheath :D , a Broke Back Mountain Classic 111 (now I have one with the matte finish engraving scroll :D ), and a 112C NS :( .

So, the 112 NS is kine a bummer. It is obvious that the dude took the bolsters to a wheel. WHY?????

Anyway, how do I get the fine brush scratches out of that puppy????

Ah, sorry kid, I can't pay your allowance this week...
Dad. (I mean, Goose.)

Goose, sorry about your N/S 112...try Flitz. I saw a bumper sticker that I like better than the one about spending our kid's inheritance. It reads "Leave no kid a dime". Preston

I like that "kid" bumper sticker. Yeah, it's wierdly amazing how much they cost to raise. Tell 'em that they better change my diapers with Depends when I get older and not that generic stuff. Hell, it's not that I got bucks...ha ha...I noticed that after I wrote it. But maybe ya know what I mean...I'd have more to contribute to the manufacturing workers of Idaho if I'd left my pants on.
ANYWAY...

What is "flitz"? Is that Gretsnaps' brother? Where can I find that?

Thanks Preston...

What we have heah...is a failure to communicate... :grumpy:

Whatchu mean "brush scratches" and "took the bolsters to a wheel"??? A wire-wheel???

I use a 3/4" x 6" woven linen buffing wheel with the all-purpose white buffing compound (grease-based) and it works wonders...*after* you 320/400/600 wet-or-dry sand the bolsters... ;)

The blade is a different story...Preston or Geothorn can tell you how best to do those...

Goose, Flitz is a polishing cream similar to Simichrome. Has a fine abrasive, and chemicals for tarnish removal. I buy a product called Maas at Wally World, much like Flitz. Preston

ChickenTrax...yes, a wire wheel was used on the bolsters and, I just noticed, the thing was used lightly as a hammer...thinking that is what got it on the wheel to mask it to begin with.

Mr. P., thanks, I will try that.

DarrylS, no. We dated for a while but it didn't work out.

That was last semester you mathlete!!! Things have changed!!! Daddy's got a bad habit and he needs a fix!!!!!!
Go to your room and finish your homework!!!!!

Goose, you might consider finding a decent electric motor, adding a work arbor and an 8 inch By an inch wide sewn muslin buffing wheel, with the afore mentioned white compound you're good to go. Just make sure you mount the motor so you have adequate working room. Also works well for "polishing" blades sharp..... not to mention polishing scooter parts

Hey Trax...
Here is a link where I put up some pics of the two 112C Nickels that I have.
You can see one that is nice bolsters then the other one that I need to work on. That one is, well, the one that is not nice and looks like the person tried to get the gouges out from using the poor little guy as a hammer.

...???... Goose - It looks to me more like he tried to sand it out...If it's fairly fine sand scratches, it should buff right up... :)

:D :D ...Hey "Honker"...that knife should end up lookin' like new. Not nearly as bad as I had envisioned...I was seein' gouges and deep gnarly scratches...  :p

Not fast enough El Pollo...I saw the post where you labelled me "Moose" before you hit the "edit" button...:)

Yeah, I think I'll work on it tonight while watching "American Idol".

To me I guess I was bummed cause the dude marketed it as "better than new" blah blah "only cut a old lady driving her car to chruch on Sunday". The "old lady" gig is mine, but his text did have the "better than new".
Cost me $25 so I guess that's ok.

Buyer Beware...
