110 stamp question

I've have an unusual stamp mark on a 110 that I got for the mod effort for my wife's uncles.

Its a limited edition 1 of 250 with the Nascar logo on on side of the blade and 1993 Busch Clash embossed on the other.

Stamping is -110-
Now the dash was the 1992 year symbol.
Wood is might be macassar ebony but just doesn't quite look it.
Fit and finish is poor on this one..both inlays are rotated/twisted up on the front bolster. I think you can see that on the exposed liner on the bottom front and there is the same exposure on top back.

Was Buck gluing at this time? I can't soak this one or I'll lose the Nascar emblems.

Heck I'll take some pictures for opinions.

Anyway, has anyone seen the -110- before?

Hi Flatlander,

have a look at this picture. The knife with the corian handle has the two dashes too. The background seems to be a change in the production during the year that has to effect another year mark. So they changed from one dash to two dashes.

Yes, in 1992 there was a slight "mid-year" change to the 110, and so they changed the "110-" to a "-110-".

As I remember it was a change at the blade, more exact at the gliding surface below the rocker to smoothen the opening/closing of the knife. But it is possible that is was the reason for another mid year year mark change.

here's another double dash.

Gordon,

According to the LE list on the BCCI site. That was a "93" issue 110, Catalog #2121, tang stamp "92", Brass frame, Ebony sacles, two sided electroetch, in jewel case.

Couldn't you soak it upright (like sitting in a tall glass)and not expose the blade/logo to the chemicals?

Just a thought, sorry if I'm not understanding the issue right.

Ohen,

Excellent suggestion. I'll keep that in mind. It turns out they were not glued

JB,

So they are ebony. I sanded them down to look at the grain. They need replacing anyway as their fit was off and I didn't want to grind the bolsters on this one.

Here the inlay

Thanks all.
So I have a 1993, 425M, LE that's about to get new inlay. I'll post it when I'm done. g

Still have to polish the bolster to a high shine and I see a couple of little issues to clean up but this is about done. This rosewood turned out better than I thought when I was looking at the block.

Dang, If I that was at a gun show sale I might even have to buy a 110...good job. ch

I used to think it had to be 100% factory Buck to be worth having....Work like this rosewood 110...Yep,send me a 112 like that and I would proudly display it with all my factory Bucks! Flat, Ya did Good !

Clint,

Now that was a great compliment. Thanks a lot. I've been having a lot of fun with it all. Honestly, kind of wish that piece of rosewood was on one of my knifes but...there is always more. Thanks again. g

I picked up a -110- finger groove on the auction site and look forward to getting it.

That rosewood looks better every time I look at it. How did the relatives like their knives?
