110 vs. Bear........

Cool story.
That dude is a skinny dude...6'1" and 22 pounds!
The only thing my 110 has ever killed is a salami.
Whirled Peas...
Goose.

A double barrel 12 gage loaded with 3 inch magnum double-ought would have been handy, but if it had to be a knife what do think might have been better than a 110? I wonder if the 110 was fg?

A 69 yr old man went toe to toe with a kodiak bear. He dodged a strike, then was hit in the legs by the second and was just knocked onto the ground with his legs getting cut up. Then when the bear pounced on him, he could lift the 750lb beast off with his legs because he saw it coming and got in position. Then stabbing it in the neck produced a 2 foot geyser of blood. Of course, having his grip locked helped because the muscles responsible for providing gripping power were torn out meant his grip strength increased threefold.

That's nothing. Last week, I killed a great white shark with a pair of thimbles. I saw it coming, and knowing that sharks close their eyes when they attack, I readied myself, waited for the right moment and grabbed it's nose as it lunged. Water pressure then let me somersault over it, landing cowboy rodeo style on it's back. I then shoved the two thimbles down it's nose, and having no hands to remove them, the shark suffocated.

I think IIRC this was also written up in the BCCI newsletter(or not) w/picture.

Matt, it had a pic of the knife and it was fingergrooved.

Eric, I know that it sounds far fetched:rolleyes: up you can read about seemingly impossible tasks done by people in times of great stress:).

Is this true, I don't know. But I'll never go into the woods without my Buck 110 FG:D. Preston

This reminds me of the time I was shot down in the Korean War. We were on a routine scouting mission when our Blackhawk was shot down. Everyone survived the crash except for the stewardess. We quickly surveyed the area and decided to take the high ground both for strategic and extraction purposes. We immediatly felt as if we were being watched. It was very quiet when one of my squad let out a scream and he was gone. When I say gone I mean gone we could night find him. Then another guy was missing with out a trace. As darkness was falling upon us the the rescue chopper picked us up. Once we reached about 80 feet we saw them hundreds of killer ground squirrels.

We were lucky to make it out alive!

Somebody needs to place a precautionary note in front of this topic that reads..."Caution - entering without knee boots can be extremely dangerous!" :( :(

TLC,
What was your first clue?
That we sometimes have to make a tough decision between beer or the next Buck? Or the Blackhawk in Korea with the Stewardess Flight Crew member being attacked by squirrels?

You know...It just isn't fair! Stow one squirrel in the overhead baggage area....How was I to know the stewardess would be handing out nuts? :o

Ya know, I'm looking at that squirrel on my fence in a "friendly" kine way now...where's that peanut butter????

Anyway, imagine what a 110 can do to a squirrel.
(trying to keep some sort of integrity to the thread)...
