110

tpaulos,

If memory serves it was 1967. But you might want to check the Buck homepage. There is a great history section which answers this and many other questions. BTW the technical FAQs there also have the date code information so you can tell what year your contemporary Buck blade was fashioned.

James,

Thanks! I stand corrected! I'll let ya in on a little secret. I graduated from HS in '65 and remembered that the 110 came out a year 2 different from my graduation. You know how those association tricks work to help the old noodle

! That left me with either '63 or '67.... I picked the wrong one in my post. Obviously my association trick wasn't quite refined enough <hehehehehehehe>.

Kind of off topic for this post, but Bob reminded me of something regarding older knives.

Do we get better buys now or back in the "old days"? I seem to recall seeing adds for pen knives and jack knives from the early century that were pushing near the $100 mark. Now we can go to Pete's custom shop and get a Buck 100 in exotic steel and scales for about the same price.

So were the values better then or now?

Greg,

I think unquestionably knives are better values today. Better materials, better manufacturing methods, more choices are but three factors off the top of my head. I'm reminded of the first hand calculators. The original Texas Instruments unit have addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, no memories, was fairly big and clunky, and listed for nearly $250!!!! I realize that this is not a true analogy but it does illustrate how evolving technology has impacted features and price points.

Tuff,

Not sure what you're looking for. If it's the Buck Home page, try http://www.buckknives.com
