111MM SAK Users Thread

That's the Recta compass/thermometer that comes in the Vic SOS pouch. Works very well. I usually keep it in Altoids tin along with a Swedish Firesteel.

This 111 thread is making me "excited" (PG13 rating) :D

The Hercules is calling!

(Quick anecdote-when the animated movie "Hercules" came out in 2007 my wife wanted to see it during a matinee. From the first time Hercules came on the screen until we left the theater a little Hispanic child to our right about 6 years old began yelling "HER-COO-LEE! HER-COO-LEEEEEEEEEE! HERCOLEE!" at the top of his lungs for the remainder of the movie, NON-STOP. To this day-SIXTEEN YEARS LATER anytime my wife or I see the name "Hercules" or hear someone say it we look at each other and laugh and one or both will start saying "Her-coo-lee...Her-coo-leee!" :D )

So I am liking the "HER-COO-LEE (S)!" :D

Well I scored a Non-Serrated One Hand Trekker at Smokey Mountain Knife Works in TN this past week on vacation. Also bought my first Mora Knife a No2. I am used to carrying a 85mm or 91mm so this just riding in the pocket is a bit different. Anybody carrying one in a belt sheath if so any pics and or suggestions?

Have all 3 Vic nylon sheaths and all work fine.

Bought a trailmaster for a buddy of mine, he is super happy with it, since its a big sturdy blade. I figured he'd like it, since when I got it out of the box, I knew I had about a minute to wrap it, or he wouldn't see it! I picked up a used rucksack for myself, but its gone to Vic due to a bit of a broken backspring. I figure once and a while that will happen. I did like the weight of the rucksack, but man oh man, that trailmaster feels tough.

I've got both the OH Trekker and the Trekker, I'm not sure which I prefer. In some ways the Trekker has better lines and a better feel when the blade is closed due to the lack of opening hole, on the other hand the OH model is easier to open the blade on. Both of mine are NS models which I very much prefer.
I do like the nice beefy locking pry tool/screwdriver/bottle opener - real nice tool to use.
I'd agree that the saw is that much better than the smaller SAKs version, a little extra length helps - using the saw is more comfy on the std Trekker than the OH version.
Either model are good to have when I go camping.

I made this belt sheath from a section of bicycle inner tube and posted about it elsewhere.

Had my wife cut and sew up this eyeglass case for pocket carry, too.

I've had this for years , I don't even know what model it is , it's bent , half seized up , badly sharpened with anything that's nearby at the time , but its a very handy addition to my trucks toolbox .
It has never ridden in a pocket , just the toolbox .

Ken

I have the exact same version, probably had it for 15 or so years. I still like it.
