112 - 3 dot

Racer, Sawby is correct that is when the first FG's came out on the 112's with the 3 dots . DM

Racer,
I did a very quick look at the 112's i have on the floor and i have one without a nail nick and 6 with. We started adding a radius in about 1982. The 3 dot 112 was made from about 80 to 81. Yours sounds correct. I have not dug that deep into the 112 but it follows the 110 pretty close. I would guess that the nail nick started going away in 1980.
I hope this helps,

Joe, don't you mean, that is when the nail nick started being put on was in 1980 . DM

Ima, I'd say that is radiused . Not much but is, perhaps the mild what Vern was talking about . DM

Vern,Have you seen or know of a prototype 112 ??Larry ? Joe ?
Clint, Joe or Larry will have to answer your question. Unless you know of a good ghost whisperer who can get Vern to answer this question (this thread is from 2002).

Clint,
I have never seen a prototype 112 but I am confident there are a few of them in existence! Sadly, Vern passed away in June of 2003 from pancreatic cancer. He was a good friend and a fine man.

I got so excited about getting some inside scoop/info on early 112's that it slipped my mind that Vern was gone...He really WAS the BCCI.....I would love to be able to tell him that there are a few of us who love the 112 and proudly display them...At the Gator show this year I included the Gen 5 Award knife I received for Rare/Odd/Prototype Blade Show 2009 in my 112 display... One sweet day I hope I find a prototype and/or fixed blade 112... They are the 'Holy Grail' of rare /odd 112's and I don't really need a car anyway.
