.112. Before and After...Another One Saved From it's Former Use/Abuse

That pic of it opened reminds me of the new fixed blade ranger, i think called the 113?

Yes, maybe just a little... Perhaps I need to build a 112DP in mahogany and another in Shedua wood to match my Customized 113's in said woods... Maybe even FG models :)

So . . . that blade . . .

You changed it out, evidently.

Old blade just too far gone to save, yes?

So, is the new blade a modified 112, or is it from a different model?

Arfin, yes, old blade was about 2 inches...
442 Blades "Drop right in" ;)
I got some 442 Blems and busted them up for parts...

I was hoping someone from Buck would see these and consider making it a production item...possibly in Paperstone...
One can dream......

As much I'm enjoying the shape of the fat clip point on my (new to me) old 112, I do think a drop point ecolite 112 would be a hit.

I'm particularly thinking about the backpacking, hiking and climbing type of user. From what I know of that crowd, they don't fit the mold of the field & stream set that would understanding the hunting heritage of the 112's clip point. They also don't fit the mold of the tactical type. The primary competition here imo is the SAK variants, including the longer Trekkers.

I suppose that one could argue that the Buck X-tract and Vantage are good candidates but I would think a more traditional looking knife made of light modern materials would fit right in. There's been something of a traditional revival in that crowd. I'm seeing Opinels showing up in outfitters and wool has re-established itself.

NOTE TO BUCK: Drop Point Ecolite 112!!
