112 LT

Sucks to buy anything and it isn't perfect. Shiz happens. But it happens and it is unavoidable.

When someone complains about a knife on a public forum, it's easy to assume that they are sniveling about a minor flaw, as many do. Just saying "blade play" can sound like worrying about insignificant details. To put it in perspective, I can feel a miniscule movement in the blade of my 112 select, but only if I really try to notice it. To me, that's perfect. My 110 LT has play that is easier to feel, but only when I check for it and not when in use. Not perfect, but acceptable. The 112 LT that I sent to warranty has movement in the blade that is easily visible and notable when in use. I would call it blade wobble rather than blade play.

My new 112LT just arrived and the lock up is everything I expect from a Buck knife. When the customer service representative called me and told me that they would tighten the pivot and that I shouldn't expect too much, I was stunned. I expected to get the same knife back in the same condition. I should have known better. It was replaced with a knife of the quality that I have grown accustomed to from Buck for the past 40 years. Now if I could just get that aluminum 112, just sayin'...again.

Reitwagen and Fruitbat, glad that Buck was able to make it right for you. I have 4 LTs - all with varying amounts of vertical play, but I've decided not to send them back. Let's hope they've corrected the issue for future production. I'm looking forward to more versions to come!

I would have expected a bit of blade play but the up/down play was so that I thought the lock was about to fail. I just didn’t trust it. Now it just what I would expect from Buck.

I purchased a 112LT just yesterday (2018 date code). I have to say that any blade play is almost imperceptible. You really have to work at it to feel it. I'm sure that in use it won't be noticeable at all. I hope this is a sign that any production issues have been worked out. It's a superb knife. (I didn't realize until I read this thread that it was such a recent model.)

I gave mine to my grandsons girlfriend...So its off to the Bay to fish for a new one. I still have not seen a advertising version but I'm sure it won't be long!

I received the 112 LT awhile ago. For some reason I prefer the heftier brass/Nickel 112 to the LT for EDC, but I also often prefer the 110 LT to the brass version for EDC. I will be purchasing a few more 112 LT's though, as I want to play around with contours and such with my dremel.

I would love to see a 112 comparable to the 110 'Race' LE Buck..Mr Hubbard is it difficult/expensive to create a mold for a advertising or LE handle version? Would it be practical to make a run under 500 to a 1,000 knives or have a different color handle? I think a major Corporations or organizations would jump at the chance for a USA made Buck at a reasonable price point.. I would buy a Dodge 'Hell Cat' or Ford 'Mustang' Buck!! Heck I think firearms companies like Ruger,Colt, Mossberg Savage ect would jump at it.

The mold inserts used to make the Daytona and other artwork can be quite spendy for a short run. We would be happy to do one if the customer commits to a certain amount I would think.

I would make a mold insert for free! But I will contact Dodge by snail mail just to see if they would consider a 112/110 for sale at there dealerships..Just maybe!
