Hi folks -

Here are some pictures of an older 112 that I bought.

Can anyone identify the insert wood material, possibly Shedua?

The lower knife in the following picture is my 112 two-dot, for comparison.

Hi Scott -

Thanks for the reply -

I had read that thread and a few others, but thanks for the link, it was cool to read through it again.

I had noticed that the knife I bought had the very small rivets, and the wood had that "grainier" look to it.

I am thinking that I would like to send this one back to Buck for the refinishing treatment that they do, as the blade on this one is chipped pretty badly at the belly of the grind.

Thanks again for your comment and the link.

I think that the knife that I sent to Buck for a new blade and repair was also Segua but darker.

The belly on yours was abused . I hope they don't just grind that off . DM

Hi David -

Yes - it looks like someone was trying the old "hammer the knife through a bolt" trick - but the history is unknown.

Thanks for the comments and pictures guys - I will post pics when I get it back from Buck.

Thanks David, Leroy did make it look sweet... Buck should use the Segua wood again and try some different wood every year... Like year marks... ITE

Thanks for the close up photos and I don't think the wood on that model is Shedua . It looks to me like ebony . Nice knife . DM

I wanted to update - it only took 9 years but I finally sent that Shedua in to Buck and they returned it a few weeks later in beautiful condition - I am having trouble updating my web site at the moment, so I will just attach the pictures I took today to the post. Thank you to Buck for the wonderfully finished spa treatment!
