Well I finally got my new 113. The USPS must have really had weather troubles as it set in Spokane for days and then Des Moines for a few more. Normally I have it in a couple days.
Let me just say it was worth the wait.
What a cool little knife. Fit and finish are great even though it is a blem. The reason they blemmed it is that the two rivots on the front left bolster dimple in slightly. You can see it easily if the light hits it right but other than that....I can barely feel it. If I recieved this as a factory 1st, I would never think that there was a problem. I guess thats a testament to Buck quality.
It has a real nice skinner blade but it will work wll for field dressing. I'm sure. It has a "custom" stamp and I am told it is 420HC. The handle is full tang with real nice Charcoal Dymondwood(glossy). The only gripe I have heard is that the CH DW is too slippery when wet. I got this one wet in the sink, and similar to the paperstone, it had improved grip. I am certain that deer blood will cause no grip issue and will make it more gripable. It is certainly getting used next deer season and I think my daughter will be using one as well. I am interested what they will cost when the become a regular production item in 2011.
Here are some pics.
here is the "blem"
The only thing I think that would improve it is full handle fingergrooves.
Thanks for looking-I highly recommend you get one.
