There are places that sell wire rope (cable). I've read the "improved" rope is eq. to 1084 and the extra improved is eq. to 1095. Don't get fiber core. If you get some of the old rusty cable, try treating it as eutectoid steel for the first go around.
 
Yeah try and get the extra improved plow share I think it is. High temp tools carrys it and says to treat it like 1080 or 1084. Reading on other forums Bubba San was saying it acts and performs like tomahogen steel if I remember correctly.

As stated make sure it doesnt have a fiber or plastic core. Lots of the stuff is galvanized or stainless so watch out for that as well.
