Sorry for the not so great pics. I had intended to keep this little guy as my personal knife because it was my first real attempt at a belt finish, but i am not using so i figured someone else might like to give it a go. The blade is around 3.75 inches long, a healthy 1/8 at the ricasso and is made from 115W8 steel aka 1.2442. It is an old school German metal cutting saw steel and the best way that I can describe the chemical composition is that on paper, it looks similar to Hitachi Blue #2 but with more tungsten, around 2%. It might not be as clean in absolute terms as the Hitachi stuff, but it is probably pretty close as it was a small custom 1-2 ton smelt made specifically for knife use at the Lohmann mill in Germany. It has a belt finish, not perfect, but not bad for a guy who normally does hand rubbed finishes. This steel takes a nasty edge and is tough stuff. it is hardened to around 62Rc minimum yet the point will flex a tiny bit and come right back straight if you push it against a hard. In that manner, it feels like thin ground 3V. The comment that I heard was that if you want to use this steel for something like a kitchen knife, you can leave it at 64, nbut if you want to pond ti thorough nails, you should shoot for 62. :D The handle is buffed green canvas Micarta with stainless Corby bolts. The sheath is a #2 size Treestump pouch. Asking $175 and that includes the knife, sheath, a fuzzy zipper case, Pay Pal and USPS Priority Mail flat rate shipping to the CONUS. Such a deal!!! ;)

This second knife has a little bit of backstory. Around 2008 when I was a young knife mangler, I decided to make a little boot/vest bowie inspired by a one off Harvey Dean knife that i had owned. I really made it for myself and had Paul Long make a sheath for it. A little while later, i had it not eh end of my bech along with a couple o other pieces. I went out of town for a while and http was the week when my roof decided to bust open at the seams using a big Florida thunderstorm. Of course, the leak wa right over where I had these knives and several of them ended up tuned into rusty press of scrap. The sheath sat in my shop for a few years and then i decided to make a new fun knife to fit it. This is that blae. it is a hair under 5.5 inches long with a handle around 4.5. the blade is 300 layer ladder made from 1084 and 15N20, The gaud is the same stuff. The handle is a wild piece of Honduran rosewood burl, the sheath, as previously mentioned, is a 2008 vintage Paul Long. This one doesn't want to sit around gathering dust anymore, so I will let it go for SOLD including the PayPal fee and Priority mail to the CONUS.
