As long as they have what you need in stock, everything should be fine. I have dealt with them five or six times now, and just once was their service sub-par, stemming from the fact that they did not tell me one of my ordered items was not in stock. When five or six days had come and gone, you can bet I was pretty mad when my order did not arrive. But one phone call cleared things up.

Here is the deal: if you place an order with them, and a single one of those items is out of stock, they hold the entire order for two weeks to see if they get a new shipment. At the end of that time, is they did not receive any new items, they contact you and aske if you want the order shipped or cancelled.

If their site had a way to tell us whether things were in, and about that two week policy, I think it would really help.

Additionally, I onced placed an order with them for two identical CQB Solutions slings. I received only one. I told them what happened, and within three days, I received another box with two slings and no shipping charges. That was pretty good customer service.

I know they have a bad rep, but I have been pretty happy with them...

I ordered from them last week, mainly to take advantage of their sale prices on ASP batons, but since Emersons were also on sale I ordered a Commander (green handle, plain edge) and a La Griffe.

A few days later I got a phone message saying "I guess you know the La Griffe is out of stock, and we only have the green Commander in 50/50 edge". I didn't know about the La Griffe since they never sent me email confirmation, and I called about the Commander. The guy on the phone said they were out of green completely, but I could get a black one. I passed. I don't know if my order has shipped yet or not, and it will be interesting to see what's in it when it arrives.

Given the great service I've received from other online companies (particularly 1SKS), I probably won't order from Botach again even with their low prices. Then again, with the amount of money I've spent on knives and such in the past month, maybe I should thank Botach for reducing the damage to my credit card bill.

Just to follow up on my previous post...

On the 27th, two weeks after I placed my order, I finally got a tracking number from Botach. The email also still listed the Commander (green, plain edge) as part of my order, even though they had told me over the phone they were out of green. I checked my credit card online and found out they had charged me for the Commander as well (on June 12th, no less). I decided to wait for the order to arrive, so I could be sure what happened before I called to complain.

Well, the order arrived today, and it contained a green Commander! It's 50/50 serrated, but I had told them that was an acceptable alternative to plain-edge on the phone. I'm guessing they waited for a new shipment before sending my order, so I'm not too upset about the delay. Still, in the future I think I'll stick with other retailers, since the savings from Botach aren't worth the ulcers. :rolleyes:

BTW, the Commander is really cool. :D The liner lock seems plenty sturdy to me, and I'm not normally a fan of liners. I haven't quite got the hang of the wave yet, but I've already had to perform one "finger check". Oh, and the electroless 21" ASP is pretty neat too.
