Yep. I agree. I think you made me aware of the dye. Your post was the catalyst for this modification.

That one looks a lot better. But you still have to deal with the coarse porous textures. On a user it would collect gunk. I think.
 
Thanks for sharing. It's an interesting 119. Honestly had no idea these were made by Buck. I've seen them listed on the auction site but always thought they were somebody's project knife. Stag always feels good in the hand.
 
They’ve been available a long time from c&c. The price dropped $10. Recently. I’d love to know how many were made and if they are all part of the same run.
 
I do have a few Bucks that have a crown stag handle. Let me know if you want to see some of them. I like your modification as I did not like the black dye on the porous pith like crown end.
 
I think all stag can be good, but it takes the knife / handle maker to make it awesome.

I think crown stag would be a bit more of a challenge.

In some ways I hate to purchase stag without being able to see it first.
