119 Specials and 120’s let’s see them all.

I am a freak for Buck fixed blades; 119/120/124's. This is what I have been able to put together to help me know what I am getting with the vintage blades. As with all things Buck, dates are best approximations based on my research.

Buck Fixed Blade codes and info

One line "BUCK" Pre 1967 (forged 440C steel from 1960 - 1967)
Two line inverted/tip down "BUCK USA" 1967 to 1970 (stock removal 440C steel)
Three line inverted/tip down "BUCK 119 USA" 1971 only (stock removal 440C steel)
Three line tip up "BUCK 119 USA" 1972 to 1985 (stock removal 440C steel)
Three line tip up "BUCK 119 < USA " 1986 ( date code begins 425M steel)
Three line tip up "BUCK 119 - USA" 1992 (420HC steel begins)

Anyone have any new additions? I know it’s an old thread I started but just looking through it again. I’m not sure if it’s the cooler weather and not being able to get out in the woods as I normally do or what, but I’ve been in a 119/120 mood this week.

I’m bumping this one too just incase any new folks might want to play. I know it’s sad to bump my own thread., but I’ve been on a 119/120 kick the past week or so.Nothing new just playing with them. Forgive the GEC and Case stone. I was touching up the edges on the GEC and 119.13E039A9-FA2D-4779-A362-F34101862637.jpeg

I'll post this photo again of two 119s, top is an older two liner with the four micarta spacers. The bottom one is a stealth run 119 with the modified straight clip point blade.

1991 date code and bought around that time at the K-Mart in Ammon, Idaho. 425M steel. Never made much use of it, but I'm determined to rectify that, if possible. Edge is quite different from my newer Buck fixed blades (probably 20+ DPS) and the fuller is not polished as compared with newer Bucks. A darn fine knife!!!

Very nice looking knife. Hopefully you will post some of your use on here. For years my 119 and 120 just sat in the knife cabinet. A few years ago I decided to finally give them a try and fell in love with them.
