12,000 grit belt vs. green polishing compound

I personally have never used the green compound but i just ordered some. Anyway I have used a 12,000 grit belt and i was wondering if anyone can tell me how the belt compares to the compound?
 
Wow 12,000 grit! I've never seen a belt with a grit that high, I'm curious to what it would do, I think a leather strap would not be as fine as 12k grit. You have a link to it by chance?

Not sure on the green stuff. Is it a buffing compound you would use to load a buffing wheel up?
 
Their 12000 grit belts are in the Japanese grit rating, or thereabout. The US AISI or whatever equivalent is 2500 grit.
