Well with the comming up date of our death and destruction. I see all those shows that if you pay attention to means its the end of it all.. So while washing dishes and watching another show right now.. I figured why not the ask all of you what you think about it.. For the Y2K the only thing I changed was nothing.. I didn't belive in any of it and I guess I were right for all of our sake..
For this one I'm doing about as much work. My outlook is that its more of the folks who wish for something bad to happen and thats one date to give them the feel good. Its more as if something bad does happen it would validate there life style. Wonder what would they say the day after???? Then you got the god fearing people who just wish everyone would be punished. Except them of course as they are the good ones... Well back to washing the dishes and hope to read everyone one else opinion about the 12/21/2012..
I guess I would enjoy my everyday life and die when I will. Instead of living my days waiting for the day I die.

12/21/12 eh? Opinion? Still 3 days shopping left. :D

As far as TEOTWAWKI, I think you're right. I truly think there are people hoping for it. For me, hogwash. It reminds me of Bill's comedy, Much Ado About Nothing.

And even if it wasn't, there's nothing I can do about it anyway, so pop a cap, turn up the Christmas tunes and enjoy.

I dont buy it. Its just going to be another ordinary day.

The scary thing though, are all those people, who secretly hope for the end of the world.

We talked about this briefly over Thanksgiving dinner. My young niece had the best answer; "The world isn't going to end. The calendar for next year is already out - I've seen it."

I've got it filed under religion and superstition in order to be succinct. I believe it to be a cognitive curio that may have some historical / anthropological value to someone, but it's lack of predictive and explanatory power makes it worthless to me. If you hadn't asked the question Sasha I wouldn't have known anything about it. I've got some pretty good filters. I'm not surprised at the obvious movie agenda 'cos they seemed to have ran out of burning ships, buildings, earthquakes and whatnot at the end of the 70s and really only had asteroids, aliens, government disease and global warming left.

Well, it is winter solstice. I'm going out, lighting a fire, and drinking some hot mead with a good friend. Maybe I'll even get to spend the longest night of the year outside, in my hammock.

About that whole TEOTWAWKI stuff... the world is in bitter need of some radical change, I wouldn't mind too much about having 75% of population wiped out... but I don't think that's what's going to happen. It's just gonna be another day.

It's the solstice. I'll be partying like Maethor. Although now I have to find a supply of mead. ;) Other than that, I think it's a load. IMO I think the Mayans were all "You know, we're over a thousand years out. I think we can stop counting and do something else." Not sure why people like thinking about the end of the world. It's a fantasy that some enjoy and it boggles my mind. Meh.

It's the end. We all know it. Just embrace it. :p

Nothing is going to happen, and I am really worried about those who wish for it to be the end.

Y2K- I worked in IT and felt that there might be some that screwed the conversion pooch so I paid bills advanced one month and had some cash out just in case banking system had issues. Had normal precautions as if there would be a big storm.

I just checked the schedule and I am working 04:00-15:00 the 21st & have my kids in the evening... I might take them out to dinner.

I'm out of work. Been out of a full time job the majority of the past 3 years. Every month is a challenge. My wife just got a part time job that pays $10 an hour and that is a HUGE blessing.

If it wasn't for bills my life would be perfect. No boss. Just me doing what I want when I want to. Sure most of the time I'm worried about making the mortgage payment, but at least I have my health, and I get to spend almost 100% of my spare time with my wife.

If the world ends it's cool with me. I've spent the better part of the past 3 years with the ones I love.
If it doesn't end... well... I guess that means I need to find a real job.

I have been very curious about the 12/21 date and watched a bunch of peoples Youtube videos over this year i'm not a scientist or anything. Youtube is a terrible place to take any logic from, you want to just listen and question everything you hear.

The entertainment network has flooded everyone's TV with doomsday shows to keep us scared in our own home. I have recently unsubscribed from AlexJones, many feel his information is also to keep everyone scared in there own home.

There is one video I have found on youtube about the Mayan calendar that is NOT a doomsday theory that I would like to share. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nkmSflIQFs

I think it is wise for everyone to have a 'Bug out bag' for any unexpected events solar generator, surgical kits and such.

Which time zone do you think the end of the world will come in? I don't want to be caught naked, or sitting on the crapper if I plan it wrong!

Here is my take on it. I get how some doomsday types do this sort of thing as a kind of hobby. The gear, gadgets and skills can be fun. We are all a but guilty of that, and it is okay.

For others, I think it is an expression of the fear of their own mortality, but projected outward and externalized. Rather than anxiously imagining the world with themselves gone, they imagine themselves with the WORLD gone. Preparing for it gives them a sense of psychological security. Numbers of people have been believing that the world will end in their lifetimes for millennia, and I think this is why for some of them.

Furthermore, the Mayans didn't adjust for Leap Years. Therefore, the world already ended.

world ends for allot of people every day, begins for many more too. the mayans never predicted the end of the world the merely chose to end the calendar in cohesion with the same celestial event that they started it on.. mayan texts make many references to well past 12/12/2012 the world is constantl in a state of death an rebirth.. from the cells on my hands. to the folks in my ambulance, Can't stop the wheel from spinning. but what I can do is attempt to live with purpose.

I want to vote for 12/12/12
12/12 is a gross number

You are missing the point of 12/21/12.

12-->21-->12, the poles will reverse, then reverse again. As best as we can ascertain from the last time the poles revered ONCE, we can expect a 1,000-2,000' title wave to rush across most of the northern hemisphere, literally erasing civilization there. As entire oceans drain in the southern hemisphere to supply this tsunami, the land masses will lose the stabilizing weight of these water masses next to them, causing entire coastal regions to collapse into the emptiness of the oceans. Continents will shift, resulting in violent earthquakes not seen since the formation of the earth. Few will survive, but not for long as the returning water will cause massive, biblical floods that will wash everything and everyone away.

How do I know all of this? I don't. I just made it all up. So beware of predictions made by strangers on the internet. Except for the ManBearPig. That one is real!!
