For sale One Pair of Semi-Custom Wing Chun Butterfly Swords, $675 plus shipping (and tax if Michigan purchaser). No sheath. Buy a sai case for $15 or $20 bucks if you need to transport them.
Hybrid blade design (stabbing and chopping/slicing) with belly. 12 1/4" length blade. Blade is glossy finish German Bohler 440C-type steel.
The blade looks sharp and has a thin edge, but is one step shy of sharp so as to be safer for martial arts practice (watch the tip, watch the bashing capability)
D-Guard is hot drop forged AISI 304 stainless, glossy finish. Designed for both trapping and flipping between the open and closed grip positions.
The two knives are expertly balanced, hand-made and weigh 1.89 Pound 1.77 Pounds, respectively. If you can feel the difference (doubtful) use the lighter blade in your off hand.
These are full tang knives.
The handles are made of stabilized redwood.
Take a close look at the tight fit between the D guard and blade.
These knives are one of my designs for the EverythingWingChun.com flagship line, the 12" hybrid that was based off my integral Wing Chun knife flipping design. They have been customized with stabilized redwood handles and the ALI-MODELL Knife Maker logo, for a knife show. (It was a slow show.) This is the only pair we made like this. They were made to my design by the oversees forgemaster Modell Design LLC used for the integral swords, Khurram Ali. I did a little bit of refinishing on the D Guards but 95% of this work was oversees (or it would cost more).
If you are a martial artist or a collector, this pair of knives is an incredible value. You would probably have to pay at least $3,500 for a custom knife maker to do it, and they probably could not provide AISI 304 stainless steel D-Guards. AISI 304 is, in my opinion, absolutely the best bolster material (unless you have to engrave it) and a pain to work.
