This is a big ol bowie. 12" forged cpm3v blade, hand rubbed to 320 grit .340" thick at spine. Hardness is Rc 59-60. The spine of the blade is ground with a ridge.

The guard and finial are mild steel, carbona blued. If a nick or scratch gets on the guard, simply pop it in the oven at 800 and it will recolor.

The handle is black canvas micarta. It is a take down constructed knife.

This one is a serious user. It cuts like a laser and due to it's length and weight, it does so with little effort. Since it is intended to be a user, the blade finish and blueing ont he fittings is easy to maintain and refresh if needed. CPM3V makes one hell of a tough knife too.

It is prices at $950, and will go to Kenny Rowe for a sheath. Will ship CONUS for above price. I accept visa/MC, Paypal and of course check or MO.

don't mean to hi-jack...but hi Bailey...have you been getting my PM's and e-mails. pm or e-mail me please.

btw, now that's a knife!!!

thanks.

Holy moly! 12"!! Missed it! I got its little brother, and it is a fantastic user! Great snag, Gabe!

congrats GAbe...thank goodness it didn't last long...i was itching to pull the trigger...whew! man i love the spine on that long blade.

Good snag!

I've got to ask though. How was it forging the 3v? I've thought about doing it (mostly because Butch has dared me so many times), but have been afraid to so far...

Forging 3V is a bitch. I had a few thicker blacks from die drops. Starting from 3/4" , it just doesn't move under the press. You have to keep the heat low otherwise your risk major cracking problems. Just be patient with it and once you get it down to around .35" or so, it starts to move.

I really only do it because it is not common and a little challenging. Of course....there may be something wrong with me too.;)

What temps do you forge it at? I would imagine it's a pretty short window.

Well, you ARE a knifemaker aren't you? :)

I forge 3V at about 1500-1600 and lower. This blade took me about 2 hours to forge to shape from a block measuring 3/4X3X5" . I did forge some other blades concurently, so it wasn't that big a waste of propane:p
