After a long time waiting, my Pheer 2x72 grinder will be here tomorrow. It is due for delivery in 12 hours, and I cannot wait to start grinding.

I've dabbled a little bit with a regular bench grinder, and a harbor freight 1x30 and old files, but I wasn't happy with the quality they produce.

Anyways, after hours of videos and acquiring all the supplies needed I think I should have the profile and bevels ground by tomorrow night.

The only real question I have is about the pin holes. I purchased 1/8 brass pin stock. I also bought a few full carbide 1/8 drill bits. You know, the ones that are literally $5 a piece. So I noticed in another thread, a maker stated you have to make the hole slightly bigger then the stock. Did I waste my money on the 1/8 bits, or can I just widen them slightly with the same bit? After comparing some other bits, it looks like 9/64 would be too big.

Thanks, and I'll post pictures of where I'm at tomorrow with my first attempted profile and grind.

you want to make the holes slightly larger in the tang than the pins to accommodate the epoxy. I drilled my 3/16th holes at a 1/4 inch. however you want the pins to sit nice and tight through the scales.

and congrats on the new grinder.

Use carbide drill bits for hardened steel. Wear goggles, they shatter!
Use 'normal' or cobald drill bits pre-HT

Don't focus to much on aquaring a lot of machines/tools/materials. Focus on what you have and make something good out of that.
Some realy impressive knives have been made with hardly any tools/machines
More isn't better
