Got this little jewel as a deal o the day last week when lots of Amtracks stuff was offered....horn had shrunk away from pommel cap,I could actually put the blade of my spyderco delica in the gap on one side...lots of cracked laha falling out of the gap as well.
But some 20 ton epoxy and some sanding and I have a new favorite, this little knife is over 3/8s inch thick at the grip and the blade is perefectly shaped and polished by the Kami or his helpers....I love these little AKs... the wife saw it and said "hey just my size"...guess I'll have to get one more if I want to keep this one.

I know exactly what you mean. I couldn't find my 12" AK Villager the other day. It was under the passenger seat of my wife's car. She wanted to show it to her co-workers. Uh-huh, I see, really? Looks I'll have to order another one down the road also. Seems she thinks it's really "cute" compared to the other ones which intimidate her a little. ;)

Bwaaaa, go on now Jim, you know it's a good little khuk, you probably got a concealed carry holster for it stitched to your pajamas. How's "Jumper" doing? (figured you probably named your scramaseax Jumper 'cause it likes to jump out of it's sheath and make your hair stand straight up). hee;)

I just wish Amtrack would choose a better mark...that backwards swastika will need to be altered in some fasion or buffed off maybe.
and yes I know that symbol is used by various cultures Including Native Americans but.....not an image i want on a knife.

Add two straight lines with an engraver and the swastika becomes a pinwheel.

What epoxy did you use to fill the gap, I need to do the same on two khuks.

Skeletor-- the only epoxy I have found that will hold up to hard use is JB Weld. It is gray, but you could probably add something to it to make it match your handle color. I've used other types of epoxy, and they always shatter after I use the khukuri for a while. JB Weld is still going strong.

I used the 2 ton epoxy two part stuff and it blends in real well but I don't know how it will hold up, havent had the time to use it much as of yet.....

Thanks, JB Weld with ashes in it is what I'll go for. Is that stuff runny enough to dribble into a small gap or not?

It's a little thicker than regular 2-ton epoxy, but not by much as I recall-- it's been a little while since I used it. You can always take a thin flexible piece of metal like a thin spatula or a putty knife and use it to work the JB Weld into the gap.

Use powdered charcoal and you will have a blacker epoxy.:)
Or you can get the black powder watercolor paint, but that usually comes in about 8 ounce jars and is enough for hundreds of thousands of repairs.;)

A good art store has some other goodies that you can use that aren't "volume discounts".

You can sand off/grind up:

Charcoal drawing sticks

Charcoal (softer, darker than graphite) pencils

Black hard pastels (square, about 1/4 thick, no wrapper, not oil based)

Any of the above are usually available singly in decent store, likely for about a buck or less. Not as cheap as the paint powder per use, but who has that many khuks to repair?

I've had a couple tries with the hard pastel powder and JB Weld. It takes more powder than you expect, but I almost got a perfect match the second try. May want to try a couple times just mixing a bit up and letting it dry to get a feel for it if final looks are important.

As soon as I do this and blue it I think the BAS will be heading to Terry for a quickdraw sheath.

I knnow what ya mean, flutemaker...I wanna turn all Sanu's crosses into arrows or tridents or something.
