Today, my 12" sirupate arrived, and wow!!, it is just the right combo of length and width for use as a big knife that is still able to do basic skinning on large/medium animals.

the horn handle has a beautiful grain pattern showing on the back of the handle.

now to figure out how to post pixs that i have taken with my phone on here, lol.

sorry, old fashioned...still use a polaroid:)

and to figure out which markings are kami, HI markings. and which kami built it.:)

Makers mark is always on the left side, blade pointed away from ya. Opposite the side with UB stamped.

Should be able to look back and see the posting. Auntie usually names the kami.

Hey Steve you gonna share, or what?

uluapark, congrats again on the new blade. If you look in this thread there are some pages with Kami mark guides. A picture is worth a thousand words in this case if you can take one.

grrr..i only have the ability to post from phone to gmail.....how do i get it from gmail to here?

Must have been from an outside source. Sher is a rising sun. Need to wait for pic.

Yep! My chitlangi has the same mark. I don't think we ever figured out for sure which kami is using this mark.

If it helps that first character in Devanagari "र" is an "Ra" and the second is same as the first character used in the name of the factory Birgorkha which may be "Bir?"
Therfore Rabir...Hmmm Kami???

Somebody else asked about this mark in September, and it was claimed to be from Rajkumar:

...I was wondering if someone could ID which Kami made my Chiruwa Ang Khola based on these pics. The mark doesn't resemble any of those I've so far seen in the picture of the various kami marks.

...

I recently (August) got a chitlange with that mark (Full Sun), made by Rajkumar

Looking up that DOTD in August, the Chitlangi for sale was by Rajkumar.

...

15 inch 16 ounce Chitlangi by Rajkukar. Horn handle. Take this beauty home today at $100 even. *SOLD*

From the same DOTD thread:

E-mail sent on Chitlangi

I like this Kami mark. I find it smart because:
1. It reads Ra V and shows a Sun
2. Ra V in Nepali actually means Sun
Cool? !!!
:)

Great news, Kami mark belongs to Lachhu

Ah! Verpra to the rescue again! Guess I was half right? er half wrong? v=व b=ब Those are very close!
