12" Sirupati and a monster whitetail

Kurt, Ruger makes good stuff. My hunting buddy has used the same Ruger for the last 25 years. PA, huh? My father in law was from Dixson City. It's somewhere around Scranton.

You're right about the number of deer in most of the States. Most people consider it "harvesting". Two years ago, 20,000 deer were harvested in Llano County alone....and there's still too many deer.

Most of the animals are not as big as yours. For that you have to head down to South Texas, for the most part. Take care and congrats. I'm going to forward this pic to my son in Korea. He has a really nice typcial hanging on the wall, and will really appreciate the size of your deer. Bet it makes him homesick.

Deer in GA are indeed overgrown dogs...

Deer in MD/PA are larger - around 120-160 lbs (at the largest)

Deer in the MidWest can get up to 250 lbs (IIRC), so ours, though larger, are still lil' by comparison.

Done some running around the woods in PA. That's a nice buck!

Doesn't compare much to the ones around here, but then again they're elk. :p

IMO, if you want to eat meat, it's probably better to take it off the hoof anyway. Feedlot cattle don't exactly live a glamorous life. Not to mention all the people packing meat that work long hours at breakneck speed for next to no pay, and have to retire after 10 years with severe repetative stress injuries. But you don't have to think about all that when it's laying out real pretty on a styrofoam tray.

That's not to say I aprove of trophy hunting - you should give the freezer equal opportunity with the wall, not let food sit out and rot.

Not indended to offend. Soapbox off.

Tohatchi NM, no offence taken here. I agree with you completely, allowing good meat to go to waste is unethical and ignorant.

Nice Buck!!!!
We had a wonderful huge venison roast with all the fixins tonight courtesy of an ndn bro.
Taken with a bow in the old way and an offering to the deer for giving up his breath in a good way.
Seems to make the meat taste sweeter.:)
