While googling electric motors today getting ready for my next grinder project, I ran across this motor, a 120 volt variable speed motor, which might be cool if you cant get 220 in your shop

I'm a little disturbed that I cant find a price list anywhere, or a retail outlet, So I sent in the request-a-quote link for the 1.25hp model, I have a feeling because the motor is optically controlled when I get the price quote, it will cause me to flip out of my computer chair and land on the rug ;0)

The torque curve isn't the greatest either

Has anyone received a price quote from these folks

How much will a NEMA 4 VFD and motor set you back? Just offered up for comparison. $400 to $700 would not be unreasonable.

I have 220 in my shop and I will be going with a regular 2hp 220 VFD motor for my next build.

The main reason for making this post, I know lot of guys don't have 220, and this might a reasonable solution, especially for those that rent and are using their garages as their shop and are unable to run 220

Yeah but you can run a KBAC 27D with up to a 1.5hp motor off of 110V input. Only need 220V if you're going 2hp or higher.

I use a 3/4HP version of that motor on a machine of mine. I bought it as laboratory surplus, but IIRC, they are expensive. Seems to work OK, but the use I have it in is a low torque situation.

When I seen how low the torque was with this motor I figured using a 1 1/4" drive pulley to a 6" slave pully would get you out of that 0 to 800 rpm torque hole

The reason that I am going with the 2HP 220 volt motor is a want the best low rpm torque
