I'm not disagreeing... just stating how things are here. I'd love to be able to delete my ads when I'm done with them - it isn't as if the mods couldn't access them again, if necessary.

The mods don't delete threads or posts so I can imagine that Spark has set it up so users don't have permissions to delete. You can close them, you can edit your post.
It may seem like we delete posts, but they are merely moved to another part of the forum that not all users have access to. In the case of spam, the posts are merely removed from view..The mod staff still sees them for the most part..They are just formatted differently.
 
I think the transparency of this forum is refreshing, not allowing deletion of threads means that members have to consider more deeply what they’re posting; I like to think it keeps the forum more focused and informative.

Exactly this. Accountability is everything. In the sales sections simply delete the text in your thread and close it when the buyer is satisfied.
