does anyone use .125 for sheaths or is it too thick? i want to make a sheath for my waki and i want it stout. would .093 or .08 be good enough? i want to order some camo kydex but dont know a good source. any ideas?
thanks martin, its funny that YOU answered me since i am going to get a leather waki sheath from you after i get my waki. wanted to try my luck at the kydex.
i prefer .060 for just about everything. i've only made two Waki sheaths - one from .080 and one from .060 i carry the .060. it's not flimsy, at all. however, it's a sandwich, you might need thicker if you're making a taco.
.125 is fine for a Waki. As Martin said, .093 would be fine as well. Depending on your press, .125 may be harder to get a good form on, but the stiffness will make up for it on retention.
I wouldn't go to .08 myself on something that size, but others may disagree there.
