125OT Questions LT. I need you

I recently bought an older 125OT for a user. I have a new scrimshaw 125OT and I absolutely love the feel and ergonomics, but it's just to nice to use. So, I bought an older used model. I believe it is a carbon steel blade.
When I recieved the knife I immediately noticed some differences.
1. The nail nick is on the slope of the clip while the newer model has it on the point. Did this change signify something (i.e. the change from carbon to stainless)?

2. I noticed that the point of this knife was shorter and rounder as if maybe it was broken and reground. Then I noticed that if this knife had the same blade tip shape as the newer model, it would cut right through the lanyard. Did blade shapes change?

This is a very confusing knife. You can view both on my link below.

Any help would be great.

TIA,
Alex

The older models of this pattern wear there nail nick a bit further up on the blade. The later ones are a bit further back. The scrims were made both in schrade + ( stainless steel) and regular steel. The older OT's were all supposed to be carbon. It is hard to see the tang on your older one. Is it a Schrade Walden? (46-73) Rather than just a Schrade. It would seem to be, these had a notch just above the tang ( bottom side of blade). The earlier models ( SCHRADE CUT CO 03-46) had another subtle difference in that they had a little wider flange on the tang area than either of the others. They also had just a hint of the notch as do the new ones. An example of this older pattern would be an 1104 ( which had no liner lock but other wise was the same pattern. )

I believe your older knife to have been reshaped, or reground. Most likely due to a broken point or use and the last owners ability ( or lack of ) depending how you like the job he did to resharpen or reshaping the knife. As far as the lanyard hole it is but an illusion. If your blade were full ( and correct) it would when closed sit atop the lanyard hole ( safe and sound ) and would not effect the lanyard in the bolster hole.

I pulled a couple of variations out of the pile and if you send me your email I will send a couple of jpegs which will clarify the lengthy confusing answer I have just given. Also I would appreciate if you could explain what the particulars are on your photo storage. I used to use photopoint and when they folded ( taking about 1000 photos with them I never found another service ). I would like to use one if indeed it allows me to post pictures on a forum. I realize there must be some way to get your email from this site but, with my fantastic acumen of new technologies I believe this would be easier. I hope the info helps. Good Hunting LT. PS I almost forgot lt632ret@frontiernet.net
