PHOTO ALBUM: Elishewitz M.P.F

My CQC-9 and ATCF are kicking this one out of my pocket so even though I love the knife it has to go.

This is a 'true' 100% handmade prototype from 1995. It is not a dressed up "prototype" intended for sale to dealers or the public, as is common today. This MPF is the master copy upon which Mission Knives produced the production MPF. This information has been confirmed with Mr. Elishewitz himself and Allen has told me that he has not produced this design for two decades and does not plan to reintroduce it.

This knife has been used by me for light to moderate tasks including slicing cardboard, cutting plastic ties and twine, and opening clamshell packaging. It is a very good cutter, but shows signs of wear from my use. This is reflected in the price; I am asking several hundreds of dollars less than I paid.

Model: M.P.F
Blade: ATS-34, clip point with swedge

Blade
Small points of wear and shallow scratches towards end of blade, bead blast is in good condition otherwise.
Maker's mark crisp and centered.
Inscription on back is crisp.
Original edge, has dulled due to use and has a few very small chips and light rolling along the edge.
Thumbstud has a small gouge.
Bevels were ground evenly and cleanly, as were secondary bevels.
Swedge was ground evenly and cleanly on both sides.
Blade is perfectly centered.

Scales
G-10 with grippy finish, this knife was produced when G10 was very new.
Slight wear and rub marks on the forward end of the scales, otherwise good condition.
Small gap between titanium liner and reverse side scale.

Lock
Liner exhibits small scratches on the backside (where it is exposed at the spine side of the handle)
Lockup is at a solid and consistent 50%.
Slight to moderate lock stick depending on how the blade is deployed.
Extremely solid lockup with no play in any direction.
No side to side play whatsoever even when the blade is unlocked and traveling.
Detent is on the weaker side but the knife deploys very quickly and smoothly.
Despite being constructed with only one washer and one liner, deployment is very smooth.
Blade flicks open easily and smoothly.
Liner tension is strong.

Misc
Backspacer is slightly uneven with the scales, by around 0.3mm.
The inside of the hand shaped G10 scales show the blue coating and an etched "3" left over from the knifemaking process. Other than this and the slight backspacer unevenness this knife exhibits excellent fit and finish.
Pivot and body screws show slight external scratching but are not stripped, and are installed perfectly straight.
Pocket clip tension is good, and pocket clip screws are in good shape.
Lockup has not moved from its current position over a one month period of owning it.
Knife does not come with original packaging.
