1280 combat kukri.

My brother in law has one. I was going to give him one of my BK4s but he got this first. Not a concern for him though because he loves his 1280. He's taken it bush many times and he beats the $#!+ out of it. And it handles everything he throws at it with ease..

I reckon the 1246 would make a perfect companion for the 1280 and probably for no more reason than they would just look good together. If I ever found a 1246 I'd be half tempted to gift it to Will just to see them as a 'set'..

Couldn't take it anymore,

Combat Kukri Inbound!

Great minds think alike. By coincidence mine is arriving on Saturday. To help scratch the itch during the wait, I Bing'd the Ka-Bar 1280 and ended up here. Now I'm more fired up than ever! :)

Is it just me or wouldn't the vestigial top guard get in the way of a traditional kukri chop, where the handle is rocked back in the hand?

I'm only speaking for myself, but I don't have that kind of wrist flexibility. IMO the Combat Kukri is kind of a USMC knife on steroids. It can thrust like a straight blade, but has one helluva slicey slash up its sleeve. It obviously could chop, but it's designed to be light and fast, not a heavy chopping brute. At least that's my take.

My Ka-Bar 1280 arrived today. I LOVE it! It's a lot smaller and lighter than I anticipated. For those who've never held one, it's a lot like a BK4 that's been shorted at the rear end and straightened, then attached to a standard Ka-Bar "stacked leather" rubber handle.

Now that I know how lovely this little gal is, I wish Ka-Bar would make it with a real stacked leather handle..............it'd be sweet beyond description with a stripped blade!

Now that I have mine in hand, the answer is NO, it won't get in the way of anything. It just adds a little balance to the appearance.
