$129 budget knife recommend please

I would take a look at the Top Mini Scandi Folder. Comes in just under your price point and is been impressing the hell out of me since I got it. Just a great knife.

I am working on collecting some CA legal folders-

I do a lot of reading and studying up for all my purchases.

By almost all accounts, the Mini Griptilian is a modern classic and a must own-

I’ve been carrying the native 5 and love it but the mini grip just arrived and I have to agree with the many, many others that recommend it.

You should also consider buying from the Exchange since you can find some great deals (if you're patient/not in a rush and a bit flexible with what you're looking for) and your money will typically go much further by purchasing something second hand but in excellent or "like new" condition from a reputable seller.
Agreed this is how I mostly buy these days for expensive knives that is

;) She sounds rather particular . Might be best to take her to a big selection , good quality knife store (if such exists there ) and let her get hands and eyes on personal experience of what's available . Otherwise be prepared to accept all the blame forever after !

Benchmade Griptilian (or Mini-Grip) in 154CM with a sheepsfoot blade. Or, a Kershaw Dividend in M390 (currently available, but may sell out soon).

I think they meet all your requirements - right blade shape, thickness, good blade steels, right size but not too heavy, lanyard holes, etc.

Edited to add: regarding your rule for California concealed carry, there is no state law against concealed carry of any sized non-automatic folding knife, so you're fine there. As someone mentioned, county laws may vary.

The Steel Will Mini Cutjack in M390 and G-10 is a fine knife and one she might like (flipper, ~3" blade). Perhaps too stabby? Don't know. But I have carried it everyday since October when I purchased it. It runs right at your budget point or maybe a tad more. The D-2 version is much less.

Been very pleased with the Fox Elite which is a very slim gentleman's type knife with tulip wood handles and 440C-ish steel (liner lock). Can't remember the numbers at the moment. Runs under $100. Very pointy but would be a heck of an edc for a woman who uses knives for routine kinds of things.

Added: Another I like a lot is the LionSteel Small Opera which is a simple knife in D-2, pinch open and back lock. Mine is stag.

I live in Eastern L.A. County and carry what I want minus an auto +2" or longer blade. Never had a problem even with local LE.
Griptilian or, check out the Protech Calmigo..awesome knife!

I will just throw this out there, sorry if it is just my opinion and may not meet all her criteria, but I have been looking at the Manly Peak knives in the different steels, or the Manly Wasp which is a slip joint but has not come out yet.

I know that this is a Spyderco and she thinks they are ugly, I did too but once I got one in my hands and carried it a little bit, just to see what happens to a disbeliever I now have about 30 Spydies and still counting.
She may like the color. Spyderco Lightweight Manix II S110.

I bought most of my knives that way. Alot of people get knives but never carry them and their are others that received them as gifts and really don't like them.

Gah! I had a great choice for $130. Oh well.

Your wife has pretty specific tastes, and she sounds like she knows what she likes in a knife.

Been married long enough to know that, when it comes to something like that (for my wife...jewelry), you are best off letting her buy what she wants herself. Then everybody's happy.

I think the OP is just doing the research. I don't understand why $129 is the upper limit on price (including tax and shipping... really specific). Why not $135? I tend to agree with you Marcinek on the wife purchases unless it is something I bought for myself and she just happens to like. An example is the Vic Classic in Alox I bought.

Cold Steel American Lawman, or I know she doesn't like spydercos but what about a manix 2 they don't have that blade hump that puts many people off
