12th day of Christmas deals for 12/12 -- Pix and awesome buys

The chainpuri scares the heck out of me. They are wicked blades. And a bargain to boot.
Steve

so, how does a chainpuri differ from a kobra other than that cute foreblade fuller i have a good long kobra, very spiffy...

still warming up to chainpuri, have a 30 inch siru, perhaps a 25 inch inch, but not before a couple chitlangi... i've decided i want those more - just waiting to see or order the right ones. though i think i'll take all the zombies on for a 25 inch gelbu special... there's something MIGHTY about a GS, that is like WHOA.

Nice, Very Nice...and those bowies!!!! When will it stop? Never I Hope!

The Kobra and Chit have the same specs...hope someone can help...I need to educate my eye, so what makes them different?

Thanks, Wally

I'd get the chainpuri personally. There is something about the kobras that just doesn't feel right for me.

Often pointier. Bell shaped butt. Maybe slightly less angle. When I photo'd mine, there was reflection in the blade that looked like a grinning shark. Kinda like the teeth on a P-51 mustang. I know it was a reflection. At least I hope it was. :) I do know it looks mean.

Though there's a wide range of individual variation, as we know, the Kobra is usually more slender than any other HI khuk. The Kobra is not warranteed for chopping down trees.

That UBE was perfect at 28 ounces and 18". It's sort of a dark horse amongst Bowie or Khuk models, at least it always seemed to me. One day I just had to have one, and I'm glad I did. You can stab and slash.

You guys bought all the ones that I would've bought, right off the bat.

*sniff* I'm proud of you. Angry, but proud. *sniff*

About that CAK...that's a good size and weight. Don't be fooled by the looks. I would buy it myself if I didn't already have four khukuries in that size/weight range.

"18 inch for show, 15-17 inch for a pro." Smaller gives up too much effectiveness, larger is a PITA to hump, and the CAK is as close to invincible as most of us will ever get. Just saying. (The rules change for Kobras and such obviously, as they are specialized tools and not meant for general use or smashing bricks and such.)

the CAKs have NOT been flying off the shelves for some reason... compared to others, as in the past. a few months ago, you had to FIGHT to get a CAK. it's good we're seeing more of them, but ... mmm...

i don't have this size, and it's gorjus, but i prefer standard bolsters, esp on a CAK, and at $140 says someone else loves it more than me :)

Every BLADE in this batch was proof tested in the shop and checked here in the States.
Offerings today are great value.

Consider this the Flashing Blue Light, (the one other than the police car)

I see a Chiruwa AK at 29 ounces and 16.5" , and a UBE 28 ounces and 18" , that are both in the weight-length range most effective for the kukri imho.

I'm surprised both the CAK and that sweet chainpuri are still here! A nice combo of fighter and chopper there. I love the looks of that UBE as well.

Oh, and just noticed: a 16.5" Villager WWII, by Vim no less, WITH standard bolster for $85??? I have an 18" Villager WWII, and this would make the perfect mate to it. Someone please save me...

Dang...someone beat me to the hasiya again. I even had the money this time. Guess I will email Yangdu to see if there are any more.

It's good to see that the bolo has come back. I guess I will have to pick one up a little later.

Aaaah.

So I'm not crazy (well, not in this case).

The pathetic part is that even that one (+shipping to Canada) is too expensive for me at the moment :(

About the Chainpuri and the Kobra, the handle seems more "curved" on the Chain, is it me?

Yes, the handle of the Chain is different than that of the Kobra. I was mostly thinking of blade differences. Both are fast and light.

i like the hasiya from the prior DOTD, much thicker looking near the handle, and the handles on both of these are fine... hasiya creep? mmm. prefer that thick look.

I like the thick look as well. I also like the more curved ones that have poped up from time to time.

It's not the same.

Hope I'll get cash for Christmas or for my birthday (Jan 4th) and be able to buy something nice from Yangdu.
